Ajrakh block printing is a centuries-old craft, primarily found in Kutch (Gujarat) and Barmer (Rajasthan). Skilled artisans use intricately carved woodblock stamps to create mesmerizing geometric patterns, carefully transferring designs onto fabric using natural dyes. This traditional process involves eco-friendly dyes derived from vegetables and minerals, with indigo being one of the most renowned.
The deep hues of blue, red, black, yellow, and green reflect the royal legacy of Ajrakh, dating back to the ancient civilization of Mohenjo-daro, where rulers were depicted wearing similar prints. The charm of Ajrakh lies in its simplistic yet elegant patterns, rich texture, and natural variations, making each piece unique.
Note: As this is a hand-block printed fabric using natural dyes, slight irregularities and minor color variations are inherent and add to the beauty of this art form.
